1 – Overall context

The e-Omed Association aims at bridging existing inter-university cooperation on all sides of the Mediterranean basin and at developing concrete achievements made in this framework. Its goals are to :

reduce the digital gap between the Mediterranean shores;
promote human development through access to knowledge for those who can be subject to geographical, economic or socio-cultural constraints;
promote continuous enrichment and enhancement of the common heritage by the user community.

In this general framework, our association is honoured to open the 2022 call. The projects must be in line with the above-mentioned perspectives. The Euro-Mediterranean and digital dimensions and the inclusion in a higher education action are the only eligibility requirements for projects.

Every year e-OMED launches a call for projects that it finances out of its own funds. After examination by external and internal reviewers, 3 or 4 projects are selected with a support of up to 15.000euros. The first condition of eligibility is that they must involve at least 2 partners members of e-OMED on the one hand and on the other hand belonging to 2 distinct regions of the Mediterranean rim, i.e. North & South; East & South; East & North. The maximum duration is 18 months.

This new community aims to develop language teaching resources, by participating in the production of digital tools and by building the teachers expertise to design distant learning e-modules. The first project launched by this Thematic Community is the production of a module entitled “Teaching Arabic to Non Native Speakers”.

Economy, Management & Entrepreneurship

Introduction

This community results from the merger of two communities: « Entrepreneurship and Innovation » created in 2011 and « Economy and Management » created in 2013. Made up of institutions and experts who have already led mobilizing and federating projects in these fields, this community aims to :

Achieve economies of scale through the pooling and sharing of experiences;
Provide teachers with quality resources validated by the institutions;
Contribute to the updating of trainers’ knowledge.

Introduction

This new community is the merging of several former communities: » Digital pedagogy for Engineering « , « Distant practical courses », « Digital resources for education in technology » and « Pedagogical innovation »

In this context, the Pedagogic uses of ITC Thematic Community aims to mutualize the digital resources dedicated to teaching and more particularly to practical courses, to promote access for the greatest number of people to digital resources and technologies of the latest generation, to facilitate the development of lifelong learning and to encourage equal and transparent access to higher education.

Dear e-OMED member,

Our association has an important role to play in the framework of the relations between Mediterranean countries and in the development of digital technology uses dedicated to training or research . This role is undoubtedly enhanced by the unique situation imposed by the health crisis related to COVID-19. I am therefore delighted, despite the unfavourable circumstances due to the containment, that we have been able to prepare without delay, with all the members of our board, the 2020 call for projects to be now open.

Objectives and actions of e-OMED

Objective

Building a digital space of solidarity between the members of the association.

Actions

Promote the use of ICT for training and research purposes in higher education institutions.
Foster cooperative relations between the different cultures and institutions, through the use of the online learning tools, and promote the implementations of training cycles shared between its members from different countries.
Facilitate the exchange of digital resources between the shores of the Mediterranean and beyond by promoting the use of platforms, adapting and translating the content.
Reinforce the visibility of culture and enhance Mediterranean cultural heritage.

Organizational structure

The General Assembly is the sovereign body of the association. It meets every three years.
The second decision-maker structure of the association is the Board of Directors (BoD). Its members are elected for a period of three years at the General Assembly. The BoD meets on average twice a year.
The third structure resulting from the BoD is the Bureau. It manages the day-to-day activities of the association.
